End User License Agreement

This End User License Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you and Enes Kırgıl (“Licensor”), the developer of the Uchi app (“App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to this Agreement.

License grant

Licensor grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial family use, in accordance with the Apple App Store terms and this Agreement.

The App is free, and no purchase is required to use any part of it. There is no paywall, no subscription, and no trial: every feature is available to every family for as long as the App exists.

Using the App does require an account. Every grown-up in a household signs in with an email address and a password, and agrees to this Agreement, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy before the account is made. That acceptance is recorded — which document, which version, in which language, when, by whom, and on whose behalf. A child never has an account of their own in that sense: a parent creates the child’s profile from inside the parent’s own account and accepts these documents on the child’s behalf, and no email address or password is ever collected from a child. The Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy set both arrangements out in full.

Food, calories and health — Uchi is not a doctor

Uchi has a food log, and it can work out a suggested daily amount of calories from details someone chooses to give it. Please read this part properly before anyone in your home uses it.

• Uchi is not a medical device. Nothing in it is medical, dietary, nutritional or clinical advice. It does not diagnose anything, treat anything, and it does not monitor a condition.
• The suggested daily amount is a rough guide, not a recommendation. It is a standard published formula (Mifflin-St Jeor) applied to the height, weight, birthday, activity level and one formula constant somebody typed in themselves. It knows nothing else about that person — not their health, not their medication, not whether they are pregnant, recovering, training hard, or unwell. Treat it as a starting point you are free to change or ignore. It is always editable, and nothing in the App treats going over it as a failure.
• The calorie figures are estimates too. Numbers looked up from Open Food Facts were typed in by volunteers from a packet; numbers your household remembers are whatever your family entered. Both can be wrong. Check them against what is in your hand.
• Do not use Uchi to manage a medical condition or an eating disorder, and do not use it to decide anything about medication, pregnancy, a child’s growth, or a diet a professional has given you. If food or weight is a difficult subject for you or for someone in your home, counting can make it heavier rather than lighter, and Uchi is not built to help with that.
• The person to ask is a doctor or a registered dietitian. Talk to them before starting, changing or stopping anything about how you eat, and if something about your health worries you, do not wait on an app.
• About children, specifically. A child’s profile is made by a parent, from inside the parent’s own account, and that parent accepts this section on the child’s behalf — so if you set a child up, this is your decision to make and yours to live with. Uchi never shows a daily number to anyone under thirteen — for a younger child there is a log and no target, deliberately. The food log is off for every child until a grown-up turns it on, and a child cannot turn it on for themselves. Even so, please think twice before switching it on: counting calories is a heavy thing to hand a young person. If you are worried about how a child in your home is eating or growing, that is a conversation for your doctor or a dietitian, not for an app.

Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App, except as allowed by law.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
• Rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the App.
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices.
• Use the App to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, database, or another household’s data, or in any unlawful way.

Ownership

The App, including its design, code, artwork, doodle illustrations, fonts as licensed, and all intellectual property in it, is owned by Enes Kırgıl and is licensed, not sold, to you. This Agreement gives you no rights to the App except the limited license above. The content you and your family create in the App remains yours — see the Terms of Service.

What you bring in stays yours too. The photos, voice notes, documents and other files your family imports are your content, not Licensor’s. You grant Licensor only the narrow permission needed to run the App for you: to store those files in your household’s own private storage and show them back to the members of your household. Nothing wider — your content is never used for advertising, never used to train anything, and never sold or shared for anyone else’s use. In return, you are responsible for having the right to store what you import, and for what is inside it.

The supporter tip (the only in-app purchase)

The App offers exactly one optional in-app purchase: a supporter tip, shown at the foot of the About screen. It is a one-off, non-consumable purchase and a pure thank-you. It unlocks no features, no content, and no additional license rights — your license under the section above is identical whether you tip or not, and the App is completely and permanently functional without it. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

If you choose to tip, Apple is the seller of record and processes the payment through your App Store account under Apple’s own terms. The App never sees, receives, or stores your payment details. Refunds are therefore handled by Apple, through the standard “report a problem” flow for App Store purchases in your Apple account’s purchase history. The App offers a Restore Purchases option so the tip can be recognised again if you reinstall the App or move to a new device.

(The tip is not switched on yet; until it is, that part of the About screen shows nothing.)

Third-party materials

The App relies on third-party services and components: Supabase, which hosts your household’s database and file storage and runs sign-in — it holds the email addresses, checks passwords, and sends the six-digit mails the App uses to confirm an address or reset a password — and the free public open-meteo.com (weather), themealdb.com (recipe step ideas), frankfurter.app (currency rates) and Open Food Facts (food and barcode lookups) APIs. Your use of those is subject to their own terms, and Licensor is not responsible for third-party materials. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is sent to each one.

Open Food Facts deserves a specific word, because the App shows its numbers next to food. It is a free, volunteer-run database, and its figures are only as good as whoever typed the label in: a product may be missing, out of date, or simply wrong, and a great many products carry no energy value at all. Uchi shows what the database says and never invents a number in its place — a product with no energy figure is shown as exactly that. Every figure lands in an editable field before it is saved, so the last word is yours.

The password page on this website — the reset page — is part of Uchi’s own site rather than a third party. It exists so a forgotten password can be reset in a browser as well as in the App. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly what it does with an email address, and what it does not keep.

Apple Health is part of iOS rather than a service of Licensor’s. If someone switches the optional food link on, the App adds their own food lines to Health and reads back the day’s food energy already there, on the device. The App does not send anything it reads from Health to its own server or to anyone else.

No warranty

The App is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. See the Terms of Service for the full warranty disclaimer and limitation of liability, which are incorporated here by reference.

Term and termination

This Agreement applies for as long as you use the App. The license ends automatically if you breach it. On termination you must stop using the App and delete it. Sections on ownership, restrictions, no warranty, and limitation of liability survive termination.

Apple-specific terms

You acknowledge that this Agreement is between you and Licensor only, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement and may enforce it against you. In case of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation regarding the App. Claims relating to the App’s use (including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer protection) are the responsibility of Licensor, not Apple, as between Apple and Licensor.

Governing law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, where the Licensor is based, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Apple’s Standard EULA also applies to App Store distribution, and if you use the App as a consumer elsewhere, this section does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in.
